A funny story about Jon, he went to my website when he heard about me and saw that I was located in Pawtuxet Village which is a small village along Narragansett Bay in Cranston, RI. Rhode Island a small state and this village is even smaller. Come to find out, Jon grew up here. When I gave him my address to come by the shop, he was shocked as it turns out that I live in his childhood home! The house has changed a bit since the 60s but the quaint feeling of this village is still here.
Jon was looking for a road bike that would accommodate fenders, larger tires, be his size, and not have toe overlap. The final product was just that. Lots of specialty anodizing and flashy orange make this bike a real looker. I used a set of classic Prugnat lugs and standard sized tubing as the frame size called for it. The fork crown is a classic Rivendell casting that compliments the lugs very nicely. To get the larger tire and fender clearance, Paul Racer Medium centerpull brakes were used. A modern SRAM Force drivetrain looks rather unsuspecting combined with the threaded headset, quill stem, and Brooks Swallow saddle. A blend of old and new that I hope Jon enjoys for many years to come.
