Glenn’s 700c randonneur
“I only build complete bikes” is what I’ve always said. But there are always times when I make exceptions. This was a unique situation where Glenn is a mechanic who takes great pride in the assembly of his bicycles. I handed the bike off to him as you see it here. I was in charge of installing the lights, headset, and fenders—you know, the fun stuff.
This one is a light rando/road bike that takes 700×28-30mm tires. Skinny by today’s standards. Double seat post binder, partial-wrap fastback seat stays, Schmidt SL front dropouts, custom twin plate style crown, small front rack, and a host of other details. The finish is a two tone with a darker shade of the blue/green on the head tube, pump, and fenders. I bet it looks fantastic in its completed state.
And even though it’s nowhere near my size, this was this first bike that I’ve built and haven’t ridden. I was a little sad but Glenn gave me a positive first ride report which made up for it.

Do you have any photos of the completed bike build you could share? This is a beautiful build. I love the colorway here. How big is the frame?
